Eta Omega Projects for 2018 -2020
Cookies for TIP (Teacher Induction Program) — August and December
Members provide and serve cookies for the Brazosport Independent School District New Teacher
Induction Program (TIP). Information about Delta Kappa Gamma and our local chapter is shared with the new teachers at that time.
Pennies for Habitat (Frances Snelgrove Penny Project) — September through October
Members donate their pennies to honor Frances (Eta Omega member) and her husband's local volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity. In October, the pennies we collect are given to local elementary students to donate so they feel a part of the Habitat Penny Drive.
Mentoring Matters (A Mentoring Program for BISD) — September through May
Members provide in-class or out-of-class support such as mentoring, tutoring, and other help throughout the school year as needed to early-career educators or other educators.
Sweet Dreams — September through December (Christmas Project)
Members will bring pajamas, socks, slippers, and toiletries to be donated to the Women's Center of Brazoria County in Angleton for women and children who are temporarily housed there.
Grants-in-Aid — September through May
Members currently provide two senior females pursuing education--one from Brazosport High School and one from Brazoswood High School with a grant-in-aid. Our silent auction, held each February in conjunction with a salad supper, and gift card raffle provide the funding for the grants-in-aid. Both seniors will be invited to share at the Founders' Day and Eta Omega Birthday Celebration in May.
International Experience in Texas -- November
A "no-bake" sale will be held to donate funds members would have spent on baking or purchasing baked goods to build up our convention funds for attending an international conference.
Classroom Grant — January through March
Early Career educators may apply to Eta Omega Chapter for a classroom grant to support a need. These grant recipients will be invited to share at the Founders' Day and Eta Omega Birthday Celebration in May.
